As Davao City comes alive for the vibrant Kadayawan Festival, Park Inn by Radisson Davao proudly joined the celebration with a purposeful line-up of events last week that honor the city’s rich culture and heritage. Kicking off the festivities was “Threaded Tales,” a cultural showcase highlighting indigenous artistry and local craftsmanship. Through curated experiences like this, Park Inn aims to celebrate the spirit of Kadayawan not just with color and excitement, but with meaning and community at its heart.
A celebration of craftsmanship and culturePark Inn by Radisson Davao ushered in the Kadayawan Festival with “Threaded Tales,” a curated exhibit launched on August 4. This vibrant display featured Davao-grown brand Ayla Pearls, known for its South Sea pearl jewelry, and Bina Batik from Cotabato, which reimagines Southeast Asian textiles into modern, upcycled fashion pieces.
Introducing Tela Tales: Fashion with a purpose
Highlighting the event was the Davao debut of Tela Tales, a sustainability initiative by SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC). This program transforms discarded hotel linens into stylish and functional items. Designed by Davao-born designer Dars Juson and produced by women from the Think Outside the Trash community group, the first collection includes shibori-dyed vanity kits, tote bags, and bucket hats.
Fifteen percent of proceeds will benefit students at Malamba Elementary School – G. Astilla Sr. Cultural Minority High School, continuing the hotel’s commitment to educational support.

Festivities don’t end with dancing and music alone because Park Inn has a treat for you! Guests can indulge in regional cuisine with Kadayawan-themed buffets from August 15 to 17 and the festive Boodle Fight at VANDA Restaurant for PHP 4,550 (good for 5). Expect traditional dishes and even a grilled durian experience!
