We all know that human desire to get dressed up, gather with your favorite people, and treat yourselves to a gorgeous dinner, only to hesitate when calculating the rising costs of a night out. Between fuel hikes and everyday expenses, catching up over a beautifully plated meal has started to feel less like a regular joy and more like a heavy financial investment. You want to explore new flavors and champion the local food scene, but your budget is asking for a break.
Destino: Davao Restaurant Week was the exact answer we had been waiting for.
Bringing global dining inspiration to our local scene
The concept of a community-wide culinary celebration is something food lovers look forward to globally. Inspired by iconic events like New York Restaurant Week and Winterlicious, Chef Jeramie of Pilgrim Restaurant wanted to bring that exact energy to Davao City. Drawing on personal experiences abroad, the vision was clear: to unite local dining spots and offer fixed-price menus. By curating three-course meals at a set rate, diners received incredible value and the opportunity to truly experience a chef’s complete culinary narrative, from appetizer to dessert.
Making culinary exploration accessible
Let us be honest about the current economic climate in Davao today. With rising fuel costs and inflation touching nearly every sector, many restaurants have had to adjust their pricing. Consequently, it has become difficult for us to simply go out, wander into a new spot, and try different dishes without overthinking the bill. Destino directly addressed this reality. It created a pocket of opportunity where enjoying exceptional food became affordable and accessible. You could plan a beautiful night out with your circle, knowing exactly what to expect when the check arrives.
Collaboration and creativity in the Juna neighborhood
Instead of fiercely competing for weekend dinner crowds, the restaurants around the Juna neighborhood came together. This event transformed the area into a united culinary front. Each participating kitchen eagerly took on the challenge of the prix fixe menu, pushing boundaries to showcase their unique creativity. Diners got to witness the artistry of different restaurateurs shining through every specially crafted dish, operating on a simple but powerful manifesto: Different destinations. Different experiences. One vision.
