There are seasons in life that arrive unexpectedly. They change plans and routines, and even ask us to become still.

This is the heart of Slow Made Studio Davao, a name that came to Caprice in a moment of realization when she noticed how much her own pace had changed.

Having spent years working in consulting in Singapore, Caprice once lived in a world that celebrated speed. Where success was measured through metrics, deliverables, and constant movement. But over time, her relationship with time began to shift. When asked to go on bed rest during her pregnancy, she learned to embrace the lower pace.

This allowed her to take time to notice, to create, and to be fully present in the process. “Slow Made” became a reflection of that transformation, capturing both her pace and her way of making.

“Studio,” on the other hand, began as an act of romanticizing the everyday. Before she had a dedicated studio of her own, her kitchen table carried that role. By day, it hosted shared meals and daily life. By night, it transformed into her creative corner, a sculpting station, a vision board, a space filled with scattered tools and the soft hum of her Spotify playlist. It wasn’t pristine, but it was full of life.

And in that small, ever-changing space, she found a truth she would carry into her work: creativity doesn’t require a perfect set up—only curiosity, intention, and a corner to begin.

A love letter to our endemic blooms

Waling-waling earrings

Slow Made Studio’s first muse was not chosen for popularity or aesthetics alone. The Waling-waling, is the famed orchid native to Mount Apo and long revered in Filipino cultural memory.

Having newly settled in Davao City, Caprice was deeply inspired by this flower. Beautiful, rooted, and endemic to the land that had become her new home.

The Waling-waling became her first hand-sculpted ceramic earrings. But more than jewelry and an ode to her new home, it became a conversation.

When people recognized the flower, stories followed. Memories of grandmothers who once grew orchids. Pride in something native. Our biodiversity grew. In each piece, the flower lived again—not in forests alone, but in the hearts and memories of many people.

The intricacies of research & craft

created with love and intention

What makes Slow Made Studio distinct is that each bloom begins with reverence.

Before clay is shaped, there is research. Observation. Reflection.

A flower is not reduced into decoration. It is understood first—its symbolism, history, habitat, and emotional pull. Only then does it become wearable art.

That quiet discipline gives each piece weight beyond appearance. It is why these creations feel less like accessories and more like keepsakes. True to its name, every piece is thoughtfully slow made. Each creation is shaped with love and intention, reflecting Caprice’s belief that the most meaningful art is never rushed, but gently formed through time, care, and intention.

Memoirs that were meant to accompany a life

creations made for all seasons

Caprice never intended her first earrings to be sold. She simply wanted to create something meaningful while she was carrying new life.

Yet perhaps that is why others responded so strongly. Because honesty can be felt.

Slow Made Studio reminds us that some things are not made to peak for a season. They are made to age with us. To be worn to graduations, milestones, reunions, and ordinary beautiful days.

When something is rooted deeply enough, it does not need to chase attention. It simply continues.

And in many ways, Slow Made Studio did more than begin a brand. It began a new way of remembering what already belonged to us.
