Do you have a favorite show that you watch over and over again, even though you already know exactly what is going to happen? The kind of show you put on “just for background,” but somehow still end up watching every scene anyway?

I think most of us do. And there is something deeply comforting about that.

For me, that show is Crash Landing on You. I first watched it during the pandemic, when days blurred together and everything felt uncertain. Somewhere between the romance, the longing, and the quiet moments, I became deeply attached. Even now, I cannot seem to let it go. Every rewatch gives me the same kilig feeling. The happy rush, the familiar butterflies. I laugh, I shed a tear, and somehow, I am still not over it.

I often think about why women, in particular, tend to have these comfort shows. Many of us spend most of our days with our minds on overdrive. We are constantly thinking ahead, juggling responsibilities, managing emotions, and making decisions, both big and small. Even when we are resting, our thoughts rarely are.

Comfort shows offer a rare chance to switch to autopilot. Because we already know the story, our minds do not need to work as hard. We are not anticipating plot twists or trying to keep up. We can simply exist in the moment, letting the scenes play out without effort. It is familiar, predictable, and quietly reassuring.

That is why these shows are perfect companions during work, chores, or moments when we just want to wind down. They fill the silence without demanding attention. They keep us company without asking us to perform, react, or decide. In a world that constantly asks women to be switched on, comfort shows give us permission to turn off, even briefly.

Rewatching the same series is not about being stuck or running out of options. It is about choosing ease. Choosing something that feels safe when everything else feels loud.

I will probably keep rewatching Crash Landing on You. And that is perfectly fine.

So, what is your favorite comfort show?
